Reality has changed...
Words from a master

“Reality has changed chameleon like before my eyes so many times, that I have learned, or am learning, to trust almost anything except that which appears to be so.”
– Maya Angelou | b. 1928 d. 2014
I do not know the date of the photograph I found online, but it conveys a message unlike usual portraits. As least for me. It is as if the master poet was an ancient wise woman, an elder from the past, who had lived many lives and returned one more time to impart her wisdom during a time of turmoil.
Ever since I first read the quote I’ve shared, I review it daily to remind myself to question everything I hear and see, especially online and in the news—which I rarely watch anymore. The “spin” is dreadful and full of lies and innuendo just to garner clicks and TV views to sell advertising.
My advice to my child and grandchildren? The same as Maya’s — never believe anything until you verify the source and deduce the truth for yourself, no matter how long it takes. Stop scrolling and remember to read the ancients. Learn some history. Understand the context. Study ancient oral history and myths.
Then decide for yourself what you think. Never follow the Pied Piper who assuredly will lead you to your demise.

Always verify the source! Couldn’t agree with you and maya more!
Agreed! I stopped watching the news years ago. I don’t even own a television. I’m a firm believer in critical thinking and being mindful about sharing or taking in anything without first doing the research 🖤
